How Do You Keep a Community Engaged Without Overhyping?
Hi all,
I’m working on a project and trying to strike a balance between keeping the community active and not creating unrealistic expectations. Hype can drive short-term energy, but it often fades or backfires when the roadmap gets delayed.
We’re posting regular updates and hosting biweekly AMAs, but some people still complain there’s not “enough happening.” At the same time, I don’t want to turn everything into a big announcement when it’s just a backend tweak.
Any tips on how to keep the momentum going without faking hype? Especially curious how other managers handle quiet periods or slow dev cycles.

I’ve followed a few web3 projects that use Make’s community team with their community management. The difference is clear — people stick around. The tone is on point, not too formal, not too chaotic. Helps when you feel like someone’s actually listening and replying. Makes the space more welcoming.
