Applications in Small-Scale Robotics and Automation
I’ve been messing around with a small rover project at home, and I'm trying to figure out how people usually use tiny linear actuators in compact robots. Mine keeps getting jammed because the space inside the chassis is super tight, and I’m not sure which type of actuator would actually hold up without adding too much weight. If anyone has tried using micro actuators for little grippers or sensor adjustments, I’d love to hear how you made it work and what to watch out for.

I ran into that same issue with a mini robotic arm I built last year. What helped me was switching to micro actuators that had a slimmer body and didn’t draw much power, since the whole thing was running off a small battery pack. They handled delicate movements better than I expected. You might want to look at the options here: https://www.progressiveautomations.com/pages/micro-linear-actuators micro linear actuators — it gave me a good sense of stroke lengths and force ratings before picking anything. For grippers especially, smoother motion makes a huge difference in avoiding jams.
